💊 Non-Hormonal Menopause Treatments? Here’s What New Research Is Revealing

Many women want relief from hot flashes — but don’t want to take hormone therapy. Whether it’s because of past health risks, family history, or personal choice, hormone-free options have been limited.

That may be about to change.

🧪 A new drug called Fezolinetant is being studied by Astellas Pharma, a global pharmaceutical company. In a large clinical trial called SKYLIGHT 1, women who took Fezolinetant had fewer and less intense hot flashes within 12 weeks — and the benefits continued for almost a year. What makes this drug different? It targets the brain’s temperature control center, not your hormones.

🔬 At the same time, the Mayo Clinic is testing a low dose of Oxybutynin — a medication usually used for bladder issues — to see if it can reduce hot flashes in women who can’t (or don’t want to) use hormone therapy. This study is still ongoing, but early signs are promising.

These treatments aren’t on pharmacy shelves just yet — but they’re showing real hope. For many women, this could mean more freedom, more comfort, and more choices.
